Age Range Consultation – OA
Monday 1st December 2025
Dear Stakeholders,
Oakway Academy: Proposal document to increase the age range of the school from 4 - 11 years to 2 – 11 years.
The Trust and the Leadership Team of Oakway Academy (OA) propose to increase the age range of the school from admitting pupils from 4 - 11 years of age to admitting pupils from 2 - 11 years of age. This is to take effect from September 2026.
The proposed change ensures that the already close working relationship between Oakway Nursery and Oakway Academy is formalised. The proposal allows Oakway Academy to increase its age range and formally take on responsibility for Oakway Nursery pupils, staff and families from September 2026.
This change also ensures that the school will play its part in ensuring working families with young children have enough suitable places locally to choose from when they need childcare.
There will be no other changes to the admission arrangements at Oakway Academy. A child who attends the proposed Nursery provision at Oakway Academy or has a sibling already at Oakway Academy must still apply for a Reception place.
All current and future parents and any other interested stakeholders can make comments on this proposal; information on how you can do this is detailed at the end of this letter, under the section titled “How to make your views known”.
Specific Proposal
The Trust proposes to increase the age range of Oakway Academy from age 4 - 11 (YR – Y6) to age 2 -11 (Nursery – Y6) from September 2026.
It is important to the Hatton Academies Trust Board to consider the views of our parents and the wider community.
