The Labour Government started their pilot breakfast club scheme on the first day back of the new term in April and our Trust Primary, Oakway Academy was one of only 17 schools in the county to be an ‘early adoptor’.

Gen Kitchen, MP for Wellingborough and Rushden visited along with Secretary of State for Transport Heidi Alexander to start the breakfast service and talk to some of the students. Our Catering Manager Zoe Walker, plus Head of School, James Hollingsworth were both interviewed by BBC Radio Northamptonshire to explain the benefit of students having a healthy breakfast provided before a day at school. Please see the link below to hear the full interviews on Annabel Amos’ Marathon week recording https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002b08h.

Students and their families will benefit from this offer provided with diligent and health focused planning from the Trust Primary Catering Team – children from all year groups attended and enjoyed a good breakfast!
