SCHOOL DIRECT TEACHER TRAINING PLACES AVAILABLE

Our School Direct training course is ideal for trainees who are looking for hands-on in-school training, learning from teachers who deliver lessons every day.

School Direct Training at Hatton Teaching School Alliance is led by Sir Christopher Hatton Academy, who are proud to be Wellingborough’s first high performing converter academy, awarded Outstanding by Ofsted in January 2015. Our sustained success is based on our mission to aim for excellence in all that we do and encourage others to do the same.

The academic elements of the training course are provided by either the University of Leicester or the University of Bedfordshire. The University sessions are taught by experienced academics, who are leaders in their field, combining teaching experience with leading academic and pedagogic knowledge. The course runs for one-year and as well as developing knowledge of academic principles and theories behind teaching, it also develops subject based knowledge through University taught modules. This combines with practical teaching experience in at least two different settings, allowing you to learn both from experienced academics and experienced teachers. You will be allocated a school-based mentor who will ensure that you feel supported during your training, and gives you a point of contact and a point of reference during your training.
